topics here, which will be open for discussions. You will be given homework
assignments which will be posted here. The work submitted here should be

Independent Reading Assignment for Winter Break
Over the break, you
will be reading one of the following books:
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
The Brief and
Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz
The Road by Cormac McCarthy
I will be posting
three assignments to my blog. You will be expected to respond to the topic on your own blog, and post comments to two other student’s blogs
according to the student calendar.
This project will
also help to prepare you for your timed-writing assignment upon your return
from Winter Break.

Assignment One- Due 12/14
First, you must create your blog. To start your blog, follow the
slide share tutorial on how to create a blog on the left side of this page. Create
your blog, and post a link to your blog as a comment here. Make
sure to include your first initial and last name and your period
number at the beginning of your comment.

Assignment Two Due 1/17
Read the
following discussion topic. You will create a TEAR paragraph in the form
of a blog post for the discussion. Include three E and A
couplets.
Make sure to post your first initial and last name, period number, and link to your TEAR as a comment to this Assignment #2 blog (see first example in the comments).
Topic One: Select a primary character from your
novel and write a well-organized
essay in which you show how a character’s demise helps to illuminate the
meaning of the work as a whole.
